X-ray Windows and Filters

X-ray Windows and Filters

Oxford Instruments Analytical Oy produced ultra thin X-ray windows, which were used in the Italian Beppo-SAX Satellite (launched in 1996).The same window technique has since been succesfully utilised in standard windows used in commercial industrial applications.

Windows and filters have a unique structure that utilises a hexagonal polyimide grid as a support structure for the ultra-thin membrane.
The polyimide structure of the membrane ensures an excellent X-ray transmission for low energy radiation.
The filter can be coated with, for example, aluminium or aluminium nitride to obtain low gas leak rate.

We offer our customers turnkey solutions and product support from the first design phase to the correct use of the window in the customer's application.

The manufacturing and testing of the windows takes place in a clean room of class 1000, the most sensitive parts of the processes being carried out in a class 100 environment
